Contribute to Nissarana Vanaya
Dana is an ancient Pali word meaning generosity, giving or gift. Dana is intrinsic to the 2600 years old Buddhist tradition.
The lay community through their voluntary generosity offer the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medicine to Maha sangha (Monks) for their physical well being.
Nissarana Vanaya Monastery and Meditation Centre is keeping this old tradition alive, and has operated from its very beginning entirely on the principle of generosity.
Monetary donations are used for maintenance and further development of this forest meditation centre for the benefit of present and future Yogis.
Anybody who desires to contribute towards the following ongoing projects may contact us or donate online.

Cash Contribution Scheme (Aramudal Dayaka Kramaya)
Cash Contribution Scheme can be described as a scheme where specific sum of donations are accepted in each year to be used on a specified day to support the Nissarana Vanaya Arnaya Senasanaya (monastery) and Meditation Center. The specific day can be the Donor’s (Dayaka’s) birthday or a day in memory of the passing away of a beloved one. For those benefactors living abroad this will be an ideal opportunity. When living overseas it is difficult if not impossible to hold an almsgiving (pinkama or dana) in memory of a parent or close relative who has passed away, and convey merits to them. It is the practice at the Aranya to convey merit to the deceased relatives of the danadayakas who had provided the dana that day. This is done by a single priest just after the pindapatha. On the day specified by the Donor the name of the deceased relative of the Donor will also be read out by the same priest and merits duly imparted.
The same day can be reserved for each subsequent year. A group of Donors or a family can get together and contribute for a day and nominate several names. The sum donated should ideally cover any shortfalls in the dana requirement of the Aranya and any extra day to day maintenance expenses of the Aranya. It is difficult to quantify the requirement which will vary each day and on some days may not be needed at all. Nevertheless any sum donated will be used for Aranya and retreat purpose only. On completion of the application form please forward the same to email@example.com

- Complete Meditation Hall with all facilities (Half completed and already using for ongoing retreats)
- Complete Pindapatha Hall
This is part of the lay Meditation Hall project described above and is the place where the monks are provided with food when they do their daily alms round. This is an urgent need in case the completion of the meditation hall is delayed.
- Reading Room with a Library
The current collections of books are well maintained but require additional space. The expansion will include an area for meditators to study the Tripitakaya.
- Complete Dana Sala for Bhikkhu
The current facilities are over 40 years old. The plan is to include a sick bay for a single monk with attached toilet and upgrade the monks food partaking area ad their toilet. The small kitchen and the attendants quarters/toilet will be modernized to meet modern hygiene requirements
- Kuti renovation project and regular maintenance work.
This is a continuous exercise as the ravages of the tropical weather demands continuous maintenance work throughout the year. Constant attention has to be paid to ensure that the Kuti's, the sole residence of a meditating monk, are not dilapidated and uninhabitable.
